Appointment of office bearers in health research body illegal: CIAA WATCH VIDEO NEWS

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has termed major appointments made by the Ministry of Health at Nepal Health Research Council in recent time as illegal, claiming that the appointments were made through minister-level decisions bypassing the cabinet. A press statement issued by the CIAA on Wednesday stated that the CIAA found appointment of some office bearers at the health research body were made through minister-level decision though it should have been done by the cabinet.The statement reads that the appointment of Dr Krishna Prasad Adhikari as chairman of the council, Dr Budha Basnet as vice-chairman and Dr Sarita Pandey, Dr Pradeep Gyawali, Dr Hem Bahadur Limbu, Dr Sarita Shrestha and Dr Sanjeev Kumar Sharma as members, and Dr Khem Bahadur Karki as member secretary of the council were made by the then health minister despite the legal provision that the appointment of office bearers at government bodies like council must be done by the cabinet. Khaga Raj Adhikari was the health minister when the office bearers were appointed at the council. myrepublica
